According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a passenger car traveling southbound on US-69 went left of center and struck a semi truck.
The accident happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday about 7 miles south of Fort Scott.
The driver of the car, 23-year-old Travis Morrison of Overland Park was killed in the crash. The driver of the semi truck was not injured.
It is unclear why the car crossed the center line.
