Thomas WallaceState Police have made an arrest in a deadly crash on the Thruway near Pembroke. It happened on December 12 around 11:20 a.m.
Police say the car of 33-year-old Julie Stratton of Snyder was disabled in the westbound passing lane after she struck a deer. While calling police, she was hit by a tractor-trailer driven by Thomas Wallace of Ohio. She was killed as a result of injuries sustained in that crash.
An investigation by State Police revealed that Wallace was in violation of the Transportation Law. Police say Wallace was operating the tractor-trailer while keeping fictitious log books, had been on duty for over 27 hours with only four hours of sleep.
Police say Wallace was also using a laptop computer, which was on his lap, to stream pornographic movies while he was driving.
Wallace is charged with second-degree manslaughter and was remanded to the Genesee county Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash/$200,000 bond.
