Truck Accident in Texas
Criminal charges probably aren't going to be pursued against a delivery truck driver who reportedly killed a man along a northwest side roadway Tuesday morning. San Antonio police believe the whole incident was a tragic accident.
According to police, Brandon Ehlert was the victim of a one vehicle accident at Loop 1604 W and Lockhill Selma Road after 2 a.m. He reportedly hit a wall in the vehicle he was driving. Investigators said no one else was in the car with the 30-year-old. Ehlert was still alive.
Police said a witness stopped to check on the accident scene. That person reportedly suggested the accident victim turn on emergency lights for safety reasons. But investigators said Ehlert did not get a chance to execute the advice. They said a Nabisco delivery truck ran into his vehicle. The good Samaritan escaped the collision.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene to free Ehlert who was now pinned under the truck. It took San Antonio fire fighters an hour or so to remove him from the wreckage. He was pronounced dead at the scene just before 4 a.m. The accident shut down both sides of Loop 1604 for hours. Both sides were reopened before 6:30 a.m.
Police said the delivery truck driver did not see the vehicle due to lack of lighting. That driver sustained minor injuries.
