COLONIAL HEIGHTS - UPDATE: An overturned tractor trailer truck that has been causing delays on Interstate 95 has finally been uprighted and cleared from the scene.
The driver, 33 year old Richard Fitzpatrick of Wilson, NC, is facing a reckless driving charge after his truck ran off the side of the road on I-95 south bound near mile marker 54 in Colonial Heights. He was taken to VCU Medical Center where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The accident closed two lanes of I-95 for much of the day, leading to substantial back ups. The truck was carrying a load of apples.
State Police are still investigating the crash.
UPDATE One lane remains closed on Interstate 95 south in Colonial Heights because a tractor trailer is upside down in the ditch.
The accident happened near mile marker 54 and the Temple Avenue exit. The truck was carrying fruit. Crews are on the scene to clean up and attempt to move the tractor trailer.
The driver was treated for head wounds and minor injuries, but is expected to be fine.
Traffic delays continue to be a problem.

Shortly before 8:00 this morning, police responded to an overturned tractor trailer near mile marker 54 on I-95. Police tell CBS 6 that one lane is blocked off and traffic is backing up into the Chester area near Exit 58 at Ruffin Mill Rd.
No serious injuries have been reported.
Those traveling on I-95 South can use US Rt. 1, Jeff Davis Highway, as an alternate route.
