SANTEE, SC - One person is dead in a morning accident on Interstate 95, near Holly Hill.
The accident involved an 18-wheeler carrying milk products. Orangeburg County emergency crews said the truck veered off the Interstate 95 bridge over Hwy 176 and crashed down a grassy embankment around 3:30 a.m.
The overturned truck had three people inside the cabin, including a man, woman and 4-year-old child. One of them has been confirmed dead. Two others were pulled from the wreckage after a complicated rescue effort that included multiple rescue teams.
The names of the victims have not been released.
Southbound traffic on Interstate 95 is moving slowly just north of I-26. Traffic is being re-routed to Hwy 210. The road is also blocked at Hwy 176 at the site of the accident.
