BOULDER, Colo. - A Tennessee truck driver accused of plowing through an upscale neighborhood in Longmont, damaging 17 parked cars, and knocking down trees, a lamppost, street sign and fence has pleaded guilty to 37 charges, including driving under the influence.
David Kent, 39, of Lebanon, Tenn., also pleaded guilty Friday in Colorado to careless driving, 17 counts of striking an unattended vehicle, and 18 counts of failing to report an accident or return to the scene of an accident.
Police believe Kent had been drinking and got lost in the narrow streets of the Prospect development, which is known for its upscale homes and unusual architecture. He drove his rig and trailer through alleys, crashing into property, fences, vehicles and landscaping along the way.
No one was injured.
Kent was sentenced to 48 hours of community service, which must be completed before his Sept. 1 deployment to Afghanistan with the Tennessee Army National Guard. He was fined $1,500 for the DUI.
