BEND, OR -- A Christmas Valley man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for failing to secure 25,000 pounds of hay that fell off his trailer, killing another driver. Bonnie Puckett, 43, pleaded guilty last week to criminally negligent homicide and hit-and-run driving. Oregon State Police investigators said Puckett was hauling a hay load on Highway 58 in March when the bales left the trailer, and hit the cab of a Sparks, NV man.
