Wreck blocks I-20 westbound near Brandon
Brandon Police are asking motorists who need to travel Interstate 20 westbound around Exit 56 to try to find an alternate route.
An accident involving an 18-wheeler has backed up traffic in the westbound lanes for more than two hours, officials said. The accident initially occurred at 4:15 p.m.
A police spokesperson said there were no injuries in the wreck and minor damage to the truck, but that debris in the road is causing the delay.
Witnesses said it looked like a large, heavy cylinder fell off the back of the truck on the interstate. It ended up on the westbound side of the road, resting against a guardrail.
Police said they’re getting the debris cleaned up as quickly as possible, and that traffic is being re- routed at Exit 56.
